robin: Composer ~ Producer ~ cellist

Robin is a composer, producer, and classically trained cellist, creates music that combines pop, commercial, and classical genres. She draws from a broad emotional palette, crafting whimsical and comedic motives as well as heart wrenching melodic lines. Her instrumentation lays the lush sound of solo and section strings over pop-based percussion and synths. She also specializes in creating Bridgerton-style orchestral covers of pop songs.

Drawing from her classical upbringing as well as her lifelong passion for pop and jazz, Robin composes contemporary works for stage, screen and special events. Her latest projects include co-writing music for TV and film licensing projects as well as writing and recording string parts for fellow composers and songwriters. She also collaborates with choreographers and theater directors to create original music for performance, bringing stories to life through music and movement.

Robin grew up in the vibrant music community of the San Francisco Bay Area. She studied cello performance at Oberlin Conservatory, Rice University, and the Eastman School of Music and performed under the batons of conductors such as Michael Tilson Thomas and Christoph Eschenbach in orchestras around North America and Asia. She has also performed with a long list of classical, jazz, and pop artists including Yo Yo Ma, Diana Krall, Manhattan Transfer, John Pizzarelli, Marilyn McCoo, and Toni Tenille. A highlight of her performance career was playing the cello-trumpet duet El Gato Triste with Chuck Mangione.

Robin writes and records in her home studio located at the foot of the majestic Sierra Nevada Mountain range in Northern Nevada, drawing inspiration from the continual progression of the four seasons she watches from her studio windows.

Her compositions have been described as “epic”, “passionate”, “mischievous”, and “uplifting”. Most recently, her music is being featured on the true crime drama “The Con” on the ABC Network.
